The Rob Reeves trio plays exciting yet tasteful jazz – full of abstraction and groove. Three artful denizens of the ocean of poly phasic contrapuntalism, swooping and gliding from soul wrenching harmonic construction to raw feeling, from unstoppable express train to delicate impressionism, the trio is both sophisticated in understatement, and yet bold and direct in the creation of the jazz noosphere (noosphere: a postulated sphere or stage of evolutionary development dominated by consciousness, the mind, and interpersonal relationships).
The Rob Reeves trio is Rob on electric guitar, Nick Maskell on Double Bass, and Laurie Keating on drums.
Rob Reeves teaches guitar with studios at The Gap and Samford. He performs regularly as a solo guitarist and with the Trio. He had a long standing residency at The Homestead Restaurant Samford, and recent performances include the State Library, The Northey St City Farm Winter Solstice Festival, the Jazz in the Valley festival in Samford, and The Retro Bar. He has also performed at the OzManouche festival.
Nick Maskell is studying jazz at the Jazz Music Institute Bowen Hills, and has a long pedigree in the local music scene, most recently as bassist in the Abba tribute show.
Laurie Keating has a B.A. majoring in music, is a teacher of drums and percussion, and performs regularly across the spectrum of jazz, rock, blues and country. Recent performances include with Phil Emmanuel.
The trio is available for all functions and occasions. Contact Rob on 0408 854 077 or (07) 3289 8020.
